Melissa Danielson Beginners, Show Riders, and Special Needs
Melissa Danielson has been riding since she could walk. She grew up on horseback, and was involved in Pony Club and 4-H. She's been at Woodloch since she was young, starting with lessons with Dan Ramberg. She began teaching at Woodloch in 1999, and training in 2001.
Melissa has competed in eventing, dressage, hunter/jumper, western pleasure, hunt seat pleasure, bareback horsemanship, tandem bareback horsemanship, showmanship, trail and WSCA games. She's currently a member of Northwest Saddle Club and AQHA. She is also a Special Olympics Certified Coach, and in addition to teaching the special needs lessons at Woodloch, she also volunteers at the MN Special Olympics every year.
Melissa offers lessons for youth, adults, and those with special needs. She enjoys teaching beginners as well as riders with competitive goals. She teaches show lessons for western
pleasure and horsemanship, hunt seat pleasure and equitation, showmanship,
bareback horsemanship, tandem bareback horsemanship, trail class, all WSCA
games, jumping and dressage. Melissa competes at many different shows over
the summer months and is available for show coaching.
She believes that a strong foundation is crucial for competitive success.
"I want my students to learn how to be safe and have fun with horses.
My
goal is to teach beginner students how to be confident, independent riders
so that in the future they can have a safe and enjoyable experience with
their own horses. I believe that a strong basic riding foundation is
essential in order to succeed in a specific show ring discipline in the
future.
"My goal for my show students is to learn that hard work, patience, and
remembering to have fun is how you create a winning horse and rider team."
