Melissa Harms-Grossman Western training, colt starting, riding lessons
Melissa (Mel) Harms-Grossman joined Woodloch Stable's equine team to start and train western horses and students. She has been involved in horses for over 20 years. She is a Minnesota native who grew up near the town of Clara City (Willmar), MN on a 2,500 acre farm.
As a youth, Melissa was fortunate to belong to the Chippewa County 4-H and FFA programs showing multiple livestock and arts projects. Her team was first in the state FFA Horse Judging. During her 4-H membership she experienced several MN State Horse & Dairy shows, receiving a state dairy showmanship award along with several gymkhana top 10 awards riding her appaloosa game horse named Molly. She graduated with the Key Leadership Award and FFA State & American degrees. When a 4-H Educator position came open, she jumped at the opportunity to help educate youth. She served as The Jackson County, WI 4-H Educator for the last 5 years. She has coached drill teams, developed equine safety exams, and done presentations at horse leader's conferences and served as the district horse show advisor. She will be of great benefit to our local 4-H and FFA customers and associations.

Following high school graduation, Mel attended the University of Wisconsin-River Falls where she earned her
degree in Animal Science with an Equine Specialty major and a production minor.
While studying at River Falls, Professor Larry Kasten recommended her to work for Sally Brown and Buck Hazeldine, owners of Fox
Meadow Farm and AQHA stallions Hollywood Jac86 and Master Cowboy Jac. Between 25 & 30 mares were
bred each year at Fox Meadow. Sally is well known as a NRHA breeder and promoter. The opportunity
afforded Mel to learn practical hands on breeding skills and allowed her to start and ride many top notch colts
while studying with well known trainers. For over 10 years, she has worked successfully training halter horses, reining horses, barrel and pole horses, and pleasure horses, as well as ranch riding horses. She has worked with and competed in the Wisconsin Foundation Quarter Horse association quite extensively, as well.
Horses provide enjoyment, relaxation and fun to their owners/riders when they are safe. "Training horses and
teaching safety practices is at the heart of my personal goals." Melissa says. "I'm very excited to meet everyone
who calls Woodloch Stable their home". Mel will be taking care of our Woodloch customer's horse needs as well as
accepting outside horses for training from starting the colt to finishing the horse.
We are so excited to have Melissa Harms-Grossman at Woodloch. Whether you are looking to break a colt, tune up your horse,
